We discovered a "10 week old" Male Corgi by the name of Jess on a website called 'Bethany Corgis" (https://bethanycorgis.com/available-pups/). The so called owner contacted us via text message from the phone number 216-487-1424. Soon after we receive an email from [email protected] and they informed us that Jess the Corgi was ready to go, some details soon-to-be owners would be curious about and requested shipping information to begin the process. The original total was $800 ($650- homing fees plus $150 for shipping). I am saying "they" because I honestly do not know who was behind the email. They wanted the amount through Zelle and sent to someone by the name of Belinda Harris. Email address was [email protected]. We updated them sending the confirmation number and they requested a screenshot on the confirmed payments right away. Then they said that they were going to ship out Jess in a few days. Few days later, [email protected] emails us that the registration of the puppy is completed and the shipping company will notify us with the registration confirmation. The "tracking registration code: DELTA0236441181-T was provided along with their "website" link (https://deltatranlogistics.com/track/).We click on the link and enter the code. At the bottom of the page, the status of the shipment was "pending". We tried to contact the shipping company via call, email, and on their website. I am unsure about how long we waited before receiving a call from the so called "Delta Tran Logistics," the phone number 618-507-5180. In the first call they informed us that the puppy arrived in California. At this point, I was excited and nervous about Jess coming home. Couple hours have passed and we received a call from the same number, telling us to check our email without any further instructions or details of what is included in the email. From [email protected] is an essay of how the "first Port of check-out requires an insurance certification proceeding the delivery. . . " And here is part of their Insurance Payment Strategy:

The insurance fee to be paid per animal must be equivalent to the cost

price of the animal in question and this was decided by the U.S Aviation

Commission / U.S Financial Bureau. Looking at clause 5A above, it shows

that the insurance cost to be paid as required by the U.S Aviation

Commission is $_____ for this puppy.

But this system brought too many complaints from pet owners and beyond

and so the two mother committees sat and decided to adopt the Full

refund Insurance Scheme method of insurance payments. This system

requires that the owner of the animals pays the total amount of the

insurance fee and the total amount must be Refunded in cash including

the transfer charges, upon safe arrival of this puppy at his or her

respective destination.

To this effect, you are required to pay a total sum of $_____. The

money will be Refunded at the time of delivery by the delivery agents

who will bring this puppy to you. The refund will be made in cash at

time of delivery and it will have to be refunded in total as stated in

clause 7A of the U.S Aviation Commission / Financial Bureau laws.

We also wish to inform you that this puppy will remain here until the

refundable insurance fee is paid before this puppy can depart from our

detention. There is no compromise on this issue. We request and advise

you treat this issue with a high degree of discretion and urgency.

Also included in this, was an email ([email protected]) and a name (Jerrion Ravizee). This was the information they wanted us to Zelle. Of course, we called back the number. The same person picks up and later he states his name is Francis. We questioned why we were just hearing of this fee, who in the world is Jerrion Ravizee, and other things. A few minutes go by and the fee has not been paid yet. Francis calls us and states that the puppy cannot be delivered until a payment is received. We tell him that we need time. This was when a part of me was concerned Jess must be awfully anxious from flying to now being stuck at an airport. The other part was questioning "is there a puppy?" "Why are we being threatened of being charged with animal abuse if we do not pay their pet insurance fee?" Then we contact the owner and they expressed that they were unaware of the charges and spoke with the transport company and stated a refund would be provided. At some point, we find out that the "Jess" was in Ohio still. A few hours later, another email from [email protected] asking for a "G.A.C Approved Air conditioner Crate" fee.
