I was contacted by the fake company offering me a position as a virtual office assistant for $850 a week, they asked me to provide my name, address, and current employer. after sending in an altered last name and fake address I was contacted by the CEO using the alias "Gareth Holman" how said that after extensive background checks from his legal department he had decided to hire me as his personal virtual assistant, he then went on about how trust was important as he had been scammed twice before for $19,000. After receiving my list of duties I added him to my email contacts as instructed the received and forwarded 3 emails for him over the course of 3 days. On the third day i was told to follow two links to expensive art pieces and verify their price and dimensions. after doing this I then got an email from the CEO stating that I He had purchased the paintings as a business transaction and he would be paying in three installments and a CUSTOMER of his was sending a "security deposit" payable to me that would include the money for the first installment and my weeks pay. I was to deposit the money into my account and, after 24 hours I would be able to withdraw my pay and use the rest to pay the art dealer he bought the paintings from. I was aware of this scam, the money would not actually be in the account and the police would be asking a lot of questions on where I got the fake money, that would then be transferred to another account to be used by the scammer. The previous emails were all fakes to make the position seem legitimate. After informing the Scammer that i would not accept that form of payment and suggested HE deposit the money into hos own account and mail me a cashier's check, he informed me he was in Canada for the next few months for exhibitions. We argued for a time over alternate methods of payment, and he then got furious that i believed him a scammer (after i pointed out his website was fake, his name fake, and his company supposedly supported the Monmouth Woman's art festival this year, despite it being cancelled in February). He then repeatedly told me I should just quit then, and stopped responding to me.
