Star Maine Coon Kingdom Reports & Reviews (1)

starmainecoonkingdom.com is running a pet scam, claiming to breed and ship Maine [censored] cats / kittens anywhere in the United States and Canada. I was almost scammed out of $300.00, but luckily I caught on in time before I sent them any money. I contacted them about a kitten using their website, and within minutes I was contacted via email and text message. The website looks very well put together, with lots of information about their supposed "guarantee" as well as "references", which they clearly stole from another place called Safe Way. When we started to talk about the cat I wanted, I had to ask for a price and a location since neither were posted on the website. They told me the kitten would be $640 and a deposit would be required to get him. I told them their price was out of my price range, then without hesitation or any means of sticking to their price, they asked "well what can you pay for him?" I told them my price was no more than $300 and they said ok, again, without hesitation. They immediately started trying to get payment from me without asking any questions regarding how the kitten would be cared for or picked up, or anything a responsible breeder would ask. Honestly, no information about the kitten was discussed by them, which was also very unlike an actual breeder, who are usually very enthusiastic when talking about their litters because they are essentially part of their family and they are proud of them. They said their only methods of payment were cash app and zelle, neither of which I was familiar with and neither of which give their name or address. I had to download the apps to try to send payment but luckily I couldn’t get it to work, and after much frustration after several attempts, I noticed their professionalism started to fade. They kept pushing me to keep trying so we can complete the transaction tonight so they could take the kitten off their website and "ship it tomorrow morning", which would have been a Saturday morning. I have purchased pets online before and had them shipped, and it was not able to be done in a matter of hours because the animal needs a vet check for health confirmation and they need to purchase a plane ticket. There was no way they could have guaranteed the kitten to be shipped the following morning and they did not provide any information on how it would have been shipped to me, either. They just kept pushing for me to get the payment to clear. During the payment process they had to give me several different user names and emails to attempt to send funds to since none of them would go through and it all started to become clear to me. They kept saying things like “just comply with me and all will be fine", "just send the payment and everything will be ok”. Then I asked for a photo of the kitten other than the one on the website to prove that it was there with them and they sent me one photo off the website and another of a totally different cat. It was then that I told them I had caught on to their scam and that I would not be sending them any money. Of course they replied with "I told you I'm an honest person", which was never a topic of conversation during the whole ordeal, and they referred me to their “legitimate ” website where I could supposedly read all about them; but if you will read for yourself, there are no names of the breeder, no location, no phone number, etc. I was given several emails during this process, one was [email protected] and another was [email protected]. They have several! Every time I told them the payment didn’t go through they would immediately provide another DIFFERENT email or username for the payment. When I asked how many different accounts they had they said their "friend was there with them trying to use their account to get it to work." Any legitimate business, let alone cat breeder, would not have more than 5 different emails associated with it for payment. Also, the phone number was a cell phone and it was 248-929-9273. They told me their location was in Lansing, MI, but the phone number was from Lake Orion, MI, which may be near Lansing for all I know. The whole conversation was very unprofessional and I am very thankful that my gut instinct spoke to me and even more thankful that somehow none of the payment attempts were able to be completed. This is a terrible thing for them to be doing and I hope someone puts a stop to it very quickly so no other people are taken advantage of.
