Caller is asking if received new medicare card…then asking for verification details:dob, giving incorrect dob, so you will correct them, giving last four of SSN:also incorrect…asking for medicare plan number…as listed on the old card and then on new card to input into the system for verification purposes …they do not speak good English. Have strong ************* accent. Then ask if you are interested in changing specific plans…offer to transfer…
I gave no specific information: I am not a Medicare recipient; my father is, and so was my deceased mother.
I do believe they got my father's full name and possibly his date of birth earlier during a call that was placed to the house. He is almost 67 and very HOH. This often creates anxiety and confusion and makes him easily flustered on the phone. Otherwise, he normally wouldn't fall for such items.
