Satelite Car Glass ( job completed by repairmen in an Anthony Autoglass van) Reports & Reviews (1)

I contacted the business through an online search, I received a verbal quote of $190 for a windshield repair, which was a cash out price. Shortly after the repairmen got here and took the windshield off, he called me outside to show me a part that he said I needed that would cost me an additional $300 ( by which had to be in cash). I had only gotten the original $190 from the ATM, so had not anticipated the additional $300 but was told it had to be cash and no credit card could be accepted.I began to share that if there were some possible "hidden" costs those should have been shared with me as "possible" additional fees so I could have used that information in making my decision to use them . He just shared that they try to use the part that he showed me, but it was clear based on the part that was some hard plastic that that part was most likely not able to be reused. I began to ask a lot of questions and I could tell he was getting agitated, so he called his boss regarding my complaint. They then began to ask what could I pay, so I told him $150, but was told it still had to be cash and he could follow me to the ATM for the rest. I then called another repairman ( that had quoted $235) that I had spoken with earlier that day regarding my apprehension since I suspected a scam. He told me that the part they were asking me to pay for was part of his quoted price of $235 and that I should probably call the police. I actually asked the guy to stop the work and leave and he told me he would not give me back my keys until I paid at least half and that he was going me a "favor". At some point when I went back into the house he called his contact back and the price of the additional part went from $300 to $100 ( $50 less than the $150 and $200 less than the $300). I later asked him for my part taken off the car that he had shown me and he refused to give it to me and said it was in the trash. I called his boss back and asked him to tell the guy to give me my part and he finally gave it back to me so I could show my husband. Ironically the price seemed to go lower after I communicated that I was not submitting my invoice to insurance and this was an "out-of-pocket" expense. When he finished he then told me my total was $308 ( which he said included my taxes and that had not been shared) and I told him I was paying the $290. When we got to Publix for me to get the other $100, he told me that the "office" said to just pay the $290. I asked for a more detailed receipt and what was provided is attached. I wanted the following included the warranty info, exact name of business etc. and my request was refused. He told me he had other jobs to complete and drove off. What would have costed me over $500 ended up costing me $290, because I shared my concerns with the scam and did not back down. Please get the word out.
