A family member of the scammer posted a recommendation for Mike Rizer of Rizer Paints LLC on Facebook. I asked on her post if he does cabinets. He contacted me personally via instant messager. I asked a few questions and he answered them. Three weeks later he sent me an instant message asking if I was still looking for work to be done. I sent him my address. He came to my home gave me an estimate and asked for a down payment. He sent me an invoice via email and then requested money on venmo. I paid a down payment of $562.00 that he requested on May 4, 2023 for work that was supposed to be started on May 22,2023. He then contacted me again for another $562.00 on May 8, 2023. He had split the job into 2 parts one being the painting and the other the resurfacing of my hardwood floors. He wanted half down for both jobs for materials. So on May 8, I paid him another $ 562.00 for work that was supposed to be started May 22 2023. On May 21, 2023 I texted him to ask what time to expect him in the morning. On May 22, 2023 He messaged me that he had a death in the family and had to reschedule for May 29, 2023. On May 28, 2023 I text him again to ask what time to expect him in the morning. He text me back on May 29, 2023 stating he was still out of town due to the death in his family. On May 30, 2023 I texted him that we needed a for sure date and time for when he would start and complete our kitchen. We settled on June 12, 2023 at 9am. On June 12, 2023 he texted me at around 6:30 am to cancel because he was sick. He then rescheduled again for June 19, 2023. On June 18, 2023 I texted him to make sure he was coming in the morning. On June 19, 2023 he did not call text or show up to start the work. I then texted him requesting he venmo my down payments back to me. He did not respond. I Then emailed him requesting he refund my money. He responded to the email that afternoon apologizing and stated he would return my money via venmo in 1-2 days. He did not return my money.On June 22, 2023 I emailed him again requesting he refund my down payments. He responded stating he would send my money via venmo the next day. He did not return my money. On June 23, 2023 I emailed him again requesting he return my down payment This time he did not respond. I also contacted him via venmo requesting he return my money on June 19, 23, and 27. He never responded
