REmarketing Corp .... beware!

- Putnam Valley, NY, USA

Received a phone call about an investor wanting to purchase my time share from me. The story was the investor wanted to own majority in the company and needed to purchase x amount of units. Was told no fees up front, the sale would be held in escrow and upon release of funds to me I would pay this company a commission. The scam however is I was informed that since the timeshare is in Mexico and the buyer is also Mexican I had to register with the SAT (Mexican equivalent of the IRS) and get an RFC number. I was informed I had to either go in person to Mexico City or hire a lawyer to do it for me. Of course for a fee, didn’t find out what that fee was, they would obtain the rfc number for me, and only after I got the rfc number would the sale be able to be finalized and funds released.

Shortly after I was contacted by title consulting center llc, based in Miami, to set up the escrow account the buyer would be depositing the funds into. In the letter it included a head escrow officer and license number. If you look up that license number it is a legitimate license belonging to the listed name however there is a different phone number listed with Florida’s dept of business and professional regulations. I called the number listed in Florida’s DBPR and spoke to the real person who informed me it was indeed a scam and that he had already reported scammers using his name and license to the proper channels.

I have enclosed the letter from the title company

I was also contacted by someone claiming to be from RE Marketing Corp. They got my debit card info and charged my account. They said someone was going to call me back within 2 hours. When no one called me back by the end of the day I started getting suspcious. I called the number that they called from that is the same as the BBB number and during my brief discussion I realized it was a scam.

I was contacted by REmarketing Corp two days ago, offering to market my business. They emailed me with relative information. They were going to advertise for me on Facebook, make flyers and blogs of my business to attract more buyers. After I paid the first month of $60. Someone was supposedly going to call me that same day. But, no one called, nor the following day. I then called them and spoke to someone who said that they were going to call me back in minutes. They never returned my calls and haven’t refunded my money.
