Listed a paintball marker with accessories on Facebook. Got an email that said
“are you the original owner of it ? I'm interested in taking it , I don't check cl mail. my email address is [email protected]
I replied with some additional information and then received a follow up email from a different address - [email protected] - asking to send a cashiers check and saying they would give me an extra $50 to hold the item. My brain is so shot and we’ve listed so many things on Craigslist that I replied without thinking assuming it was someone else in the same household replying (my husband and I have swapped communications sometimes for Craigslist items). Then I started to get a wonky feeling and found all of these similar stories about Micheal Kayle. If I receive a check I’m sending it back and none of my information isn’t anything but public record. He has been blocked from my email though.

I was also trying to sell something on Craigslist and got this first email from him:

are you the original owner of it ? I'm interested in taking it , I don't check cl mail. my email address is [email protected]

I replied and got a new email from a different address:

Am okay with the price and condition as shown on the advert, I'll
proceed in issuing a Cashier check to you and when you receive the payment, I
will make arrangement for the pickup. I will add $50 for holding the item
for me till when you receive the payment. So get back to me with the below
details
asap.

Name to be on the payment ...
Address to mail the check to ...
City, state, and Zip code ...
Final Asking price...
Phone number to text you on ...

And as soon as this is provided, the payment will be overnight to you
and I will let you know when it's mailed out

Both emails were gmail addresses.

I replied to him that I only can accept cash and will meet him the parking lot of my local police department. I doubt I will get a reply.

I am glad I searched for Micheal Kayle and saw this page. I was going to see if he even resided in the same state as the ad was listed.

December 7, 2020, boy am I glad I found this page! I am presently in "negotiations" with Micheal Kayle to purchase a piece of furniture from me on Craigslist. I had stated cash only and then received his offer over and above the asking price if he could send a cashier's check. I was suspicious right away and glad to googled his name! You've saved me some real headaches.

Same day, later on, now I am receiving exactly similar requests for 3 other items I have listed on craigslist and the contact person this time is "Barbara White" who is following up on her husband's prior emails to me (his name wasn't Kayle or White").

I received a similar email as those above for an item I have listed on Craigslist. I'm going to tell him cash only!

Fake check: Michael Kayle is trying to get me to cash a $2500 check to do a vehicle wrap on my car. The number he is texting me from is 725-800-3854. He's using the email address [email protected]. Should I file a police report?

I listed an Life Fitness Elliptical Cross Trainer on Craig's List. Received an email from Michael Kayle similar to those listed in other complaints. Received a cashiers check in the amount of $2,200 for the machine and moving costs. ($300 for machine, $50 to hold for him, and Rest to go to the moving company) I sent an email back to him to say I wouldn't process the check because it was 1) too big, 2) sent to a stranger, and 3) I was not able to verify the bank information. I have asked for him to call me, but no reply so far. I am keeping the uncashed check, FedEx envelope and address it was sent from for law enforcement.

Same exact email. I sent response before seeing this site. I have alerted him that the item will be sold elsewhere. Any check that arrives will be handed over to police.

Got a very similar email today for a craigslist item i was selling. Different email address: [email protected] and when i sent a second email back to it, got a bounceback saying the account had been inactivated.

I listed a tow behind dump cart on Craigslist. The first response I received was this message:

"I've seen your ad. are you the first owner and is it your final price ? I don't check the email for Craig's List , So text me at [email protected]"

I sent reply to that e-mail address answering his questions, then I rec'd this e-mail from Micheal Kayle at [email protected]:

"Am okay with the price and condition as shown on the advert, I'll
proceed in issuing a Cashier check to you and when you receive the payment, I
will make arrangement for the pickup. I will add $50 for holding the item
for me till when you receive the payment. So get back to me with the below

Name to be on the payment ...

City, state, and Zip code ...
Final Asking price...
Phone number to text you on ...

And as soon as this is provided, the payment will be overnight to you
and I will let you know when it's mailed out"

A couple hours later, I received the same e-mail again from Micheal Kayle at [email protected].

Notice three different e-mail addresses for him.

I'm currently being scammed by this guy. He sent me a check for a bike… it was for $1500 more than the item so that I'd "pay the movers". Now he's asking for me to purchase a stack of Walgreens gift cards with pictures take of each of their scraped off serial numbers. I think it must be exactly like the scam described above. I'm taking the cash back to my bank and alerting them today.

I also received an email from Micheal Kayle. This time it was for an iPhone I was selling. Nothing about the email felt comfortable. Checked out the situation and found this web page. This guy has been active. Be careful!

I got a Craigslist offer for a refrigerator I'm selling from someone named Micheal Kayle with a weird-looking email that felt fishy. Googled his name and found this web page. Was real surprised to find the picture of the email above was the exact same one he sent me. Thanks.

Listed an antique item on craigslist for $300, received an email generated by Craigs asking for more info, with a legitimate looking email address for a real photography company. After answering his questions, I received this scam message:

- San Antonio, TX, USA

I listed my scooter for sell on LetGo and this person contacted me stating they will send me a cashiers check but for more money than is asked for so I can pay his mover when they come get the scooter. I said that I would not pay anyone for him, that he can pay for the moving of the scooter through websites such as uship.com. I received the check today via FEDEX and immediately sent a picture of the check to the banks email. They called me back within minutes stating it was a fraudulent check.
