Mason Companies Inc. IMPOSTER Reports & Reviews (1)

- Bristol, CT, USA

I first received a text message from 832-521-9656 from an Elizabeth Botz Season Recruiter asking if I had applied for a Graphic Designer job at Mason Companies Inc. Which I had through Indeed. Then I got a text saying my resume has been reviewed and approved and I'm qualified for an online interview via Google Hangouts. I'm to email Adam Stavn the hiring manager at [email protected] and my window for the screening/interview was Wed. 10/14/2020 and Thursday 10/15/2020 from 10am. I emailed the email address and went back and forth a few times because I couldn't do 10AM, I needed a later time. Eventually we agreed on 12PM. I emailed him back to confirm the time zone because I'm EST, but the company is in Wisconsin on Central time. He never confirmed the time zone. I was to send him an invite on Google Hangouts at our time we agreed upon. Since I still wasn't sure of the time zone, I sat and waited on Google Hangouts for 1 hour and 15 minutes because I didn't want to miss out on my chance to interview. I sent 3 invite requests to the [email protected] and the person never showed for our interview. I noticed he had messaged me on Google Hangouts at 10AM though, even though we had agreed I couldn't make that time. Even though I had missed the interview, about an hour later I get an email from him saying ,"Thank you again for your interest in employment at Mason Company, inc. We are recruiting via online potential employees who would eventually have an office space at home...We have carefully considered your application during the initial screening and will now proceed to administer a Screening test/Interview for you.

In order for us to move ahead with the selection process, please reply this email to confirm your details as follows:

I will email you the Screening Test/Interview Questions as soon I receive your email with the above details."

I emailed the information and I got a copy of the Questionnaire and was told I have 90 minutes to complete it. I had a 45 minute appointment when I received the questions. So I was actually late sending back my answers to the questions. Which seemed very reasonable and like what a "real" job would ask you. 30 minutes after I sent my questionnaire back I received an email congratulating me on getting the job which definitely seemed too good to be true. It was a remote graphic design job for $60 an hour and there were 3-5 days of training on Google Hangouts which I would be paid $30 an hour for. They would also send me money to set-up my home office. That's a pretty amazing offer especially considering I still hadn't spoken to anyone in person which sent my intuition off. After doing extensive research I realized it was a scam. The company is real, however I think the entire Indeed job posting was fake. They took all of the information from the job posting on the actual website, however the real job wasn't remote, it was in Wisconsin. The guys photo in the email was of their old CEO Jay Berlin. Also, another website says that they only use emails using the first initial of the person's first name and their last name @masoncompaniesinc.com. They wouldn't be using a Gmail. And the guy had no phone number or signature in his gmail emails either. These people went through great lengths and they really seemed legit.
