I inquored about a vehicle, she respomded with ebay has it at there warehouse in beloxi mississippi, how do i go about seeing if this is a legit thing?
Thank you for all the import, no need to go any further, this lady's name is PATRICIA ELLIOT, selling a 2005 Honda CR-V LX

She is on marketplace selling a boat now; when I received her email and the price was so low I knew something was up: here is the exact same post I have just read with the truck:

Hi, My name is Maria Burke. The 2014 Stingray 180RX, is still available, The full price is $1,800 (one thousand eight hundred) , length (feet): 18,engine model: 3.0 MPI and has the fuel capacity 11 - 20 Gallons . The boat is in very good condition. It has never been involved in accidents and never had engine problems. Doesn't have oil leaks or rust, runs very well. It comes with a clean title, under my name. The only reason for selling is that I don't use it and it deserves a better home, I'm a Sergeant in A.F.B and I'm a very busy woman. Thank you.
If you want to see pictures, please let me know.

Sincerely, Staff Sgt. A.F.B. Maria Burke!

I got the same thing. I was looking on marketplace for a Tacoma truck and saw a 2004 Tacoma in OC, MD for 1500 and sent her an email and she sent me the exact same thing as everyone else something needs to be done about this. Almost fell for it until I searched up her name and found this website

Replied to her online regarding a 2004 toyota tundra truck for 1500...we replied to the folllowing email Maria Burke • [email protected] stating we were interested...whomever then replied via the following email

Now, I'm here in Biloxi , Mississippi, at the Keesler Air Force Base. The truck is already at the eBay warehouse here in Biloxi along with all the paperwork and the transaction will be done through them. eBay will handle the shipping, the payment, and the paper exchange. The truck is ready to be delivered to your place. I think I can have it there at your home address within 2-3 working days, You will have free shipping and 5 days to test-drive and inspect the truck before I receive any money. If you are really interested in buying my truck, please reply with your full name, a delivery address, and a phone #. I will forward this info to eBay and they will contact you with all the info on how to buy it. Thank you!

I of course provided whomever with our full names and and address

This Maria Burke is still trying to scam people! I read all of your stories and it's exactly the same as mine! Same 2004 Tacoma too. As soon as it offers free shipping and is across state line, I was like nope, not gonna happen! Shame on her! How can we stop this person?

SPAMER "Staff Sgt. A.F.B. Maria Burke" IS PRETENDING TO SELL A TOYOTA IN HOMER AK ON FB FOR $1500

Just had the same person try scamming me on same truck. I called the Air Force Base and told “Maria” shame on you for trying to scam people. As a marketing & IT person, tell everyone you know to always open the “from” person and see the actual email. For example, if it truly was from eBay it would be automobiles@ ebay.com. Not, [email protected]. Anytime it has any other person sending that does not have the company name after the “@“ sign it is not a legitimate company.

we're now exchanging email about her truck and i can feel something not right so i browse her name over the internet and was so blessed to find this page.
i hope she will stop fooling people esp like us that who do not have much money and struggling to get what we need. :(

Sincerely Amy

She has a 2008 infinity on FB swap shops all across country. Trying to scam people out of 1500.00.

She almost suckered my elderly dad and he almost paid for this truck. Saying she is at an Air Force base in Mississippi and the transaction will go through eBay yada yada yada! So glad my dad talked to me about it before sending her money! Beware!

Her original listing didn’t come up in google search but her email did. The email looks exactly word for word like previous ones posted here. She needs to face serious charges posing a being in the military!

I’m in Camden NC and am currently in contact with her about the Toyota for sale. FB market place keeps allowing the same type of vehicles to be posted when they are obviously a scam. I report the posts every time I see them and no sooner do I report them are they back up again with info a little tweaked. This Maria lady has given me the same song and dance as y’all but I knew it was a scam because the price for the truck is $1,500 and being a female that knows a lot about cars I knew that was way way under KBB and that was fishy to me.

I am in conctact with her now but something in my gut told me to google her and found this report. This post am replying to was for Jun 17 2020 her post are not down they are all over MI so don't be fooled. She still claims to be a Staff Stg. Also there is a few other cases like her but Christina Clausen is the name selling a " 2012 Volkswagen Jetta. Only 96,200 miles are available, priced at $1,600" that was straight from her post. She claims she moved to Billings and won the car through a divorce but you have to go through eBay and buy eBay cards for the transaction to happen. Also her post is from Grand Rapids MI, She says car is in Montana free shipping from eBay after payments 5days to check and inspect the car..
another to look out for is Janis Harrington also on Facebook Market, contacted her for her ridiculour low priced Toyota Tacoma 2003 110006 miles lifted for 1,200 you also have to go through eBay and when you search the vehicle on eBay since I am a eBay user you won't find it.

i have been hacked by this person and scammed by this person, she hacked my facebook account and ran ads with the fake red truck..! i need to track this person and sue them or put them in jail..

I'm sorry to hear that, but judging from her dialect she's probably in China. Hope you wrestled your FB page back from her though.

Corresponding with this scammer as we speak. She showed up on the Facebook Marketplace around the Cincinnati area. I've already reported her post, but I'm also tormenting her through her email. Sorry for those that fell prey to this scammer.

Thought it irresponsible to continue to allow her fake Marketplace post so I reported it and within 2 minutes it was deleted.

Maria Burke selling a 2004 Toyota tacoma 71000M for only $1,500.00 (SCAM)

This individual use the same trick over and over. I gave my phone number so she can call and we negotiate but instead sent me a text message saying she is now in Biloxi and the truck is at EBAY. Similar to the messages most of you received . She's asking for personal info but my son warned me that it's a SCAM.
A 2004 toyota tacoma in good condition with 71000 m would run At Least $10,000.00 or more.

We have unfortunately fell for this scam too. So wishing I would have look at this site before we did anything. It's really sad that these people are doing this and getting away with it. Especially using the military to try to get people to believe them. Now they have my id info too.

I completely fell for this scam. It seemed too good to be true but went for it anyway. Is there anyway to get my money or am I out of luck? Hope no one else falls for this “Hi, My name is Maria Burke. The 2004 Toyota Tacoma, XTRA-CAB, TRD OFF-ROAD package, is still available, The full price is $1,500 (one thousand five hundred). I am in Mesa, Arizona. Maria Burke placed the same ad in the "Market Place" website. Picture of the red Toyota Tacoma for $1,500. Her email [email protected]. She asked for the address and phone number to have ebay contact me to handle the transaction. She said the truck would be shipped and that it could be tested and checked out for 5 days before the payment would be made through ebay. I decided to google her and found out that it is a scam. I did not wait for ebay to call me! I am glad that I did not wait. How is it possible that she has been doing this since 2016? Please do not pay her any money! Sandra G
