In person door to door selling using any means necessary to get into the house or steal boxes off of neighbors porches or mailboxes. Claims the home owners are "racist" and "too rich" if they don't let them in (even if that family is biracial themselves.) changes stories door to door.

Nice young person claims to be selling magazines to earn points to keep him "off the streets" in Baltimore....

I realized as soon as I wrote a check for 64 dollars and he left that I had been scammed. I googled and found lots of complaints about them. I was able to stop payment on the check, but I don't want others (especially older vulnerable people like me) to get ripped off.

A young man came to my door last night stating he is selling magazines and based on the # he sells he gets points toward his payment. He is doing it to go to college. I told him I didn't want magazines but he stated I could order them for a charity like Boys and Girls club or the VA. I did so and when I came back into the house my husband wanted to know what was going on. He felt it was a scam. I told him I wanted to give this person the benefit of the doubt but doing research today on this group, it seems more like a scam and they are using young people who want to make money for education as their sales people.

I have emailed the company asking for cancellation as described in your article "BBB Warning: Magazine Sales Scams Go Door-to-Door " and the Federal Trade Commission 3 day rule and will stop payment on the check. I decided I will just go thru a trusted site like Amazon and send magazines to my local charities through that.

2/1/16 - Door to door magazine sales by two very nice & respectful African American young adults (m/f) who claimed they were traveling through Northern California to raise money that would go towards their college education. I was doubtful and I asked them if they were being scammed themselves, as I'm aware that there are many unscrupulous companies that entice disadvantaged youth to travel across the country in vans to sell candy and magazines. I asked them if they were paid for all of the hours they worked and also asked them if they could quit their company if they wanted to. One said she was new and the male claimed that they were not being exploited and that he had worked for Mailbox Media for several years that that this company treated him well and that's how they were getting through college. Even though these two young people didn't have a city-required door-to-door sales permit, I fell for their story and wrote them a check for $64 for a 2-year magazine subscription.

2/15/16-Since my check was never cashed, I decided to research Mailbox Media on the Internet. Besides the ScamPulse.com there were multiple websites with complaint postings from citizens who were ripped-off. Not even one positive comment was found! Based on that, I immediately processed a Stop Payment on my check.

I just hope the two young adults weren't ripped-off and mistreated too badly. Potentially, Mailbox Media is engaged in human trafficking and if so, I hope they're prosecuted to the fullest extent.
