i was contacted by this company for a sales position. after 8 days of "training" which included a presentation discrediting the BBB, i was sent out to sell overpriced windows using a fear tactic of telling the homeowners they had moisture in their walls which could be mold! I was given a toy moisture meter and told to use it at all costs and get inside the home by any means possible. i was told to push the fear factors of mold, breakins, and damage/loss of life from storms to get the homeowners to buy windows from $20,000 on up. the more the better for me. i always wondered why they bashed and discredited the ScamPulse.com so much in their presentation until i learned they have numerous complaints that they do not intend to address. the owner is a hot head, arrogant, fowl mouthed person who has been arrested in the past. he also had a previous company called Duramade windows and doors that he used the same M-O for but was shut down in 09 sept of 2012. but no worries because he then opened HPA in 26 sept of 2011 to convert everything over and cover his past. he even went so far as to not put his name on any documents with the DBPR or the State of Fla. until the dust had settled in 2014. 04/23/2014 according to SUNBIZ .org. so what these people tell us to do as sales guys is to tell customers that we are not there to sell them anything, but we are certified Home Inspectors and we want to give them a free home inspection worth upwards of $500. that's when you take out your moisture toy and magically find moisture in their walls! that.s when you keep harping on the danger of mold and all it's symptoms. then after that you are to ask questions designed to get answers that the company wants you to get so you can keep reassuring them that we can solve all your problems with overpriced windows. the next thing, and this is my favorite, is the demonstration with bogus window samples. we were told to tell people that we were setting up a heat lamp that simulated the suns' rays and given a btu gauge to monitor the amount of heat going thru the window samples. we told customers that one sample was a PGT window, and the other was a triple pane ANDERSON window, which both registered around 60-70% of ray reduction. but wait, there was a far superior product- HPA's Durashield! (kinda like the previous companies' name of Duramade, just saying) Now this thing brings the reading down to 97% of ray/heat reduction! Put your hand in back of this glass! Don't feel any heat? That's right. so i had to check out this BS for myself and i actually had a window in my mom's house that was built by a company called M-I. it was low-E, argon gas just like the rest, but not as good as PGT or Anderson by any means. And low and behold-it eliminated 75% of the heat! What? Better than PGT or Anderson? That's because in my opinion the whole thing is deceptive, but people buy into this stuff coupled with the fear of mold and BINGO! so then comes the next presentation either in video form on your computer or written form in pages. i used the written form which included 4 whole pages about the ScamPulse.com titled " THE TRUTH ABOUT THE BBB". One statement states that the grading system used by the ScamPulse.com in many cases is "UNFAIR". It also states that "ORGANIZED CRIME HAS USED THE ScamPulse.com ACCREDITATION TO HIDE IT'S INVOLVEMENT IN ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES"! It also shows that window scams were at the top of a recent ScamPulse.com survey. I guess they stated that because they are one of the biggest falling into that category, in my opinion, of course! Then they show you the name of the Contractor who is THOMAS LIPPERT, who according to Fla. Stautes governing the Construction Industry is supposed to be involved with the procedures and work under which a permit is pulled under his license. I don't remember hearing that guy's name mentioned at all, really never the whole time i was with these people which is a violation of the State Construction laws under Fla. Statutes 489. So after all this is done then the real scam comes into play- money$. so we were told to price the windows at full retail and then add 10% over that price. And also to add any and all extras that we could like obscured glass, stucco repair, etc. even though we told the customers that we were going to handle evrything "in -house" and there would be "no regrets". little did they know they were going to regret the price they were about to pay. So to finish the scam we were told to tell the customers that we were Authorized to give them 5% off today because it was hurricane season and the company wanted them to be safe in case a storm hit. If they still didn't sign, we then called the office to tell the "CLOSER" named Aaron about our deal and then he sprung into action. He would ask about their credit and how much could they afford monthly, and then give them some BS about having 1 (one) spot left in either an upcoming HOME SHOW or a program called the SHOWCASE HOME. In either instance the deceit was the same and so was the line. Question 1-could we take pics of your house before and after and use them for promotional ads? Question 2- can we place a yard sign in your yard for 30 days? Question 3- will you be willing to write a testimonial letter for us about your experience and your new windows? if they said yes to all 3 which is a given, then he says "OK, SO THIS IS WHAT I'M GONNA DO FOR YOU. IF YOU SIGN UP TODAY, I'M GONNA GIVE YOU THESE WINDOWS FOR $100 DOWN AND PAYMENTS OF $175-275." I never figured out where he pulled the exact number from other than thin air. Then he would say ok, write down this authorization code" ALPHA BRAVO 21614". It was the same every time and then he said to put per Aaron's approval. most of the time customers would fall for this crap and sign the docs. while signing we assured them this was the best decision of their lives and we also had shown them how we were going to save them $ on their electric and homeowners' insurance. 40% on both to be exact. what they didn't tell them most of the time was that in order to save anything on your homeowners policy they had to get a wind mitigation inspection afterwards and then submit the findings to their insurance company for a possible deduction. another falsehood was the actual warranty. we were told to tell the customers that the windows carried a 100% 30 year guarantee against anything, even screen tears! WOW! But when you read the warranty from PELLA the truth be told. I had read the EXCLUSIONS one time prior but didn't question it because i thought these people were legit. Upon a customer inquiring this to the "closer Aaaron", he stumbled and fumbled the ball. He first told me to X out that part on the warranty card. Then he changed and stated he would send a statement on the company's letterhead stating they would honor the 30 year warranty. then finally after talking with CEO GARY, i was told to just write something on the contract to the effect of we would cover damages for 30 years per Aarons request. OOPS! so what was the real warranty? I guess we will never know because ,in my opinion, they are gambling that no claism would be filed for some time and they would have made enough $ to get out of town. In closing i just have to say that after me and my classmates quit the real GARY DELIA came to life and this is how i was able to dig up all the stuff on him. he called my one classmates' wife a 'PROSTITUTE", and he called me a "*****". And we have that all in text messages from him. Now ask yourself, do you want to do business with someone that acts like that when he can't get his way? No wonder he had to close the first window company and start a second one in someone else's name until the smoke cleared. That's just my opinion, of course! But the public and consumers are generally smart enough to make an informed decision based on the facts. To verify them go to SUNBIZ.COM and lookup DURAMADE WINDOWS and HPA(HOME PERFORMANCE ALLIANCE). Then go to the DBPR.ORG (DEPT OF BUSINESS AND PROFESSIONAL REGULATION) and check out the same companies and draw your own conclusion. I am just here to provide FACTS as they occurred during my short tenure with this company. TY for reading this, and pls pass this information on to all your friends and neighbors in Fla. who may get a knock on the door or see these people at a home show or boat show. they are using these tactice from Jacksonville, all thru WEST CENTRAL FLORIDA, to FT. MYERS area as well.
