HPA contacted me via postal mail identifying as a third party modification attorney. I responded via phone and all future communication was only via phone or email. They claimed my lender was notified of my modification request, and that they (my lender) was requesting various personal documentation. After reviewing my paperwork HPA stated I qualified for a government modification program. They provided me with a new mortgage payment amount which was to be sent to them, not my lender, via wire transfer. I was told not to discuss the personal details of my modification with my lender because it could cause discrepancy and result in final disapproval when the process is complete. I started this process in September and in December my lender notified me that my home was in Foreclosure. My lender stated they have not received any modification paperwork, documentation, nor payments from HPA. HPA claims my lender is lying even with court papers. Immediately I removed HPA as a third party, ceased further payment, and requested refund of all money paid. After numerous attempts to further reach HPA I finally spoke with Audrey, which is the only contact I had for this company. I demanded to speak to the refund department and asked for alternate department numbers and well as other contact names. She declined to provide me with any names of contact as well as a main number or address for HPA. She said someone will contact me regarding my refund but she does not have a name nor number to provide me. A week later I was contacted by a Ms. St Patrick who claimed she was not with the refund department but that the process was easy and someone else would call me. I tried to explain my disappointment with HPA and that I believe this was a scam, at which time she stated "how about you won't get your money back now". I can now no longer reach anyone, nor have I received a refund . I sent numerous wire transfers totaling $3171.00 and my home is in foreclosure due to this scam. Please help me!
