Home Matters USA Reports & Reviews (22)

Most recovery companies will take your money again. I personally think they are the same set of people that run all of them, seems like an unending cycle and its too sad. The most crazy thing about the whole internet thing is how you can clone a website to make it look like the real one, I discovered so many people fell into this kind of scams. The only recovery company I know that works is [email protected], I have been to their physical address to meet them before and the good thing about them is that they will let you know if they can handle your case or not. So they will not just take your money when they already know they wont help you out.

Somebody from from Home Matters U.S.A. contactos mi hada Beginning of January and Told Me they could reduce significantly Morgage Payment so I started making monthly payments for 2,300 and end up payments for 1,700 by the end of 2020

Home matter USA called back on January 2021. They promised me with such a certainty, that they could reduced my monthly payment considerably. That they could even reduce up to 35% of the total. They promised they would lock interest at 2%. So I started my first payment 2400 monthly and eventually 1725 till the end of 2021. They would be calling me up to 2 weeks before the next payment. They have the guts to play with people’s hope. I have names of different people I talked to. I paid them @ 20,000 in the term of one year
I understand there exist a law suit against them. Does any body knows about that? Can you help?

My story is like everyone else's. I to was lied to, and scammed for a lot of money and now way behind in Mortgage payments. Turning in complaints about this company is one thing, but how do we get our money back!
Please feel free to email me at [email protected]

Was told that our modification would be approved. Submitted all documents to Home Matters USA. Called several times and they said that they were working with our investor. Come to find out that our investor is our mortgage company US Bank. US bank stated that Home Matters never gave them any documents of ours. All along Home Matters was stringing us on and telling us we had to pay our monthly payment to them. US Bank stated that they were in contact with a Roy Williams on 1/11/22 and that is the only contact they’ve had with Home Matters. This company is a complete scam and everyone that works there.

Home matters USA contacted me asking me to allow them to help me with lowering my interest rate and help lower my mortgage payment they requested I send them cashier checks for almost two years . They did nothing to help me with mortgage interest or lowering . They scammed me for 35 thousand . They also caused me 19 months of delinquency on my mortgage and now my mortgage is in default and ready to foreclose . I’ve tried contacting leaving them msgs and have not had 1 return phone call. They also put my home on forbearance and told my mortgage company they were my attorneys. I’m not sure at this point what they do to help anyone . They are scamming a lot of people . Please help us . My name is ***** and I am a mortgage loan officer with ********* in Columbus Ohio. I received several voicemails from an upset consumer but I was confused by the messages she left on my phone, as they did not pertain to any of the employees at my company.

We ended up getting connected on the phone and she let me know that she was given MY phone number as the contact information for Home Matters USA. A company who called her out of the blue promising to modify her current mortgage loan to assist with a lower payment during the pandemic. She gave them all of her information and documents including her bank routing information and was told that her new mortgage would be paid that way. She has been making a monthly payment to them for over a year now and has not signed any closing papers and has not been able to get ahold of anyone. My fear is that she has been making this payment in place of her true mortgage payment and will now be at risk of losing her home. She was also instructed by Home Matters USA to NOT communicate with her current lender. Wow.

Luckily I work in the mortgage industry so I was able to quickly see that this is not how a refinance is handled and that this company "Home Matters USA" is clearly taking advantage of unsuspecting people.

On 07/28/20 I signed a restructure proposal with Homematter USA. I was advised it would take up to 90 days upon receiving required documentation Taxes 2019, 2020- employment & income, bank statements, utilities bills. Was advised would be Loan Modification help to lower my interest rate & also mortgage payments and funds would go through the Federal Reserves for approval. I also inquired if this would effect my credit was told no. So as the end of 10/2020 came I would contact Homematters on process of course starting getting running around. Take them a week or two to contact me back letting me know update file through processor Jodi Mansell. Then I also requested my process in writing which as of this dates have never received anything from this company. On 7/23/20 started payment of $1573.57, then 8/25/20 $ 1301.23 to 9/25/20 $1288.70 until 10/30/21. I have almost paid 30,000 to these people an nothing to show for there services to help me in anyway. I have sent email after emails over the months requesting management to contact me back. Only spoke with John Adams 323-544-4628 customer service rep who collected money. Brie Cooper Customer Care Executive 323-914-0469. Would call me with minimal information on file and someone from upper heads would contact me back. When advised them was getting Attorney involved they returned my file back to my original loan servicer ASAP. My Mortgage went back to my regular payment nothing changed in interest rates. My credit has been affected by have payment shown mortgage since July of 2020. I’m in the red all they’ve done is destroyed my life. Please do not use these people. I too am going to Attorney General of California to report these people get my money back. They also put a POA on my account and refused to release so the my mortgage company can send me my statements. They are working with me closely.

Home Matters USA is a professional opportunistic scam company headed up by Jacob Rosen, Charles Taylor, and others - all liars. They saw there was an opportunity to start a business (in June of 2020) and take advantage of the Covid-19 Relief Act and the Cares Act and the programs being offered to desperate people trying to keep their home. They had no expertise in helping people negotiate with lenders/investors/servicing companies, etc. in loan modifications. But they were experts in sales, lying, and taking advantage of the elderly.

We started with them in August of 2020. We sent Home Matters $9,776 over several months to get a loan modification and were denied 4 times from 2 servicing companies. We never contacted the servicing companies because we were told by Home Matters it would negate them working on the modification and negatively impact receiving a modification. Finally, after 4 denials and Home Matters not answering their phone (they are out of business), we started talking to our servicing company. Home Matters did nothing with the Servicing Companies other than send some of the documents we sent them to the servicing companies. Something anyone of us can do on our own.

We were denied because of insufficient income. Come to find out, Home Matters never sent all of our verified income to the servicing companies. We were verbally guaranteed by Jacob Rosen that if we were not granted a Loan Mod., all our fees would be returned. Of course, that was a lie too. BTW, they had no legal right to collect or request upfront fees for services until the services were rendered. The broke the law in so many areas as I am finding out from the regulatory bodies.

We are on a mission! We are in pursuit of a class action lawsuit and criminal charges with the Attorney General in the States of Colorado and California, and Federal Prosecutors, I would suggest everyone else do the same. All employees of Home Matters are listed in the litigation and complaints. They are all complicit in the scam. We have over 110 emails sent to Home Matters. Rarely have they responded to any of them. Numerous recorded phone calls and a file that is 5 inches think. The paper trail is long. And to this point, over 25 names of employees of Home Matters.

We sent them a 3-page letter and demand email for return of the $9,776 with a time frame to respond. They didn't. The letter was post marked and of course it was returned to sender. We will continue our mission.

On October 16 2020 I signed a Restructure Proposal with Home Matters USA I was told it would only take 90 days for the process I wanted to modify my loans so that I could get a lower interest rate I was also told that this process would not affect my credit score At the time I signed the proposal I was not delinquent on my mortgage payments and had a credit score of 704 I signed the proposal for both properties I was told there was a money back guarantee

I was told to make my payment to Home Matter USA that they were going to get the delinquent balance forgiven with a new government program called Flex program That I qualified for and it would lower my interest rate and take off 20 to 30 percent of the principle balance

It is going on one year I have given them all the documents needed to process the loan refinance or modification Check stubs, Taxes for 2 years Bank statements Rental Agreements for Rentals, Loan statements, insurance statement Hardship letter Income and expense statement They kept asking me for the same documents over and over told me that they were in the final stages that I would be starting my trial period with in the next week or so They kept on prolonging this by asking me for more documents they told me this for months

Home Matters USA has not done any of the things that I had paid them for I stopped paying then around two months ago because I asked for documents showing that they were in contact with my loan companies and they said that it was all done verbal that they did not have any documents that they could show me Now no one answers the phone all the number go to voice mail or they are no longer working I have left 50 or 60 messages with no response I called both Rushmore and Selene mortgage and was told that all they did was get me a forbearance on my loans I did not want a forbearance they never even put in application for interest rate reduction loan modification or refinance they did nothing

Every month I would send money orders for each property I have receipts for a total 16858 25 for both properties Now both mortgages are behind and my credit score is 598 all my accounts are 100 percent paid on time except the two mortgage loans I have I just had surgery and will be out of work until NOV 8 2021 So now I can not even qualify for a modification or interest reduction I do not have the money to bring the mortgages up to date

Thank you for taking the time reading my complaint

Offered to work with owner/mortgage company to lower monthly payments and get some loan balance/past due payments forgiven, but just took thousands of dollars for over a year and now mortgage company threatens foreclosure sale if offer for reduced monthly payments over 480 months is not accepted by 6/4/2021 on a 30-year fixed mortgage that had fewer than 8 years remaining.

In January 2020, I searched online for a company to help with financial hardship. I contacted Home Matters USA from that search. I was behind in my house payment by two months due to a transition between two positions at work, resulting from a prior worker’s compensation claim and needed some assistance. During the consultation, I explained to them that my income had decreased and I was having a hard time paying my mortgage. They explained to me that this was considered a hardship and I was a candidate for a home loan modification. They forwarded me an authorization to represent form so they could negotiate terms for a modification loan. They told me to not make any more loan payments to my lender. They indicated to me that the process would take anywhere from 30 to 90 days. They sent me a service offer with the proposed settlement terms. The only difference in the current term to the proposed term was a decrease in my interest rate from 4.5% to 2.5%, which would reduce my monthly payment by $623.17. In that same email, dated January 27, 2020, they stated, immediately after receiving my documents (signed proposed settlement terms), a Qualified Written Request will be filed on my behalf which will initiate a deferment of your loan and place it in a freeze for the duration of the restructure process, which takes 120 days. They forwarded me an invoice for the loan restructure compliance audit. The amount was $2012.23 due on January 27th, 2020, $2001.28 due February 14th, 2020, $1741.29 due March 14th, 2020, $1782.39 due April 14th, 2020 and $1782.39 due May 14, 2020. Funds had to be payable by certified funds only. On February 3, 2020, they notified me by email stating that I could make a direct payment to their Bank of America account. In February, I completed and forwarded back to them a financial packet that they requested. On February 17th, they notified me that the due date moving forward was changed to the 7th of the month and as of May 7, 2020 the payment will remain $1782.39 until the process is complete. Also, on this date, they advised me to disregard calls from Flagstar (my lender). I paid all the requested funds every month to Home Matters USA as instructed to do. I was under the impression that the money that I was sending them was put in an impound account and would cover my payments to my mortgage company. There was some communication over the next couple of months regarding my file. From April 2020 to August 2020, there was minimal communication, mostly in regards to the monthly payment. On May 27th, I received an email, requesting documents, to which I complied. On June 2nd, I was notified that again the documents were reviewed and forwarded to the investors. In July, I spoke with them and due to Covid was having difficulties going in to the branch, they told me I could use Zelle and forwarded me the information. In August, they requested information from me regarding my worker’s compensation claim, in which I complied to all their request. On September 24, 2020, I received an email stating that they are finalizing my modification and as a result, requested for more documents, in which I forwarded them. I also told them that we need to push and try and get this closed out like ASAP. It’s really stressful and causes a lot of mental health strain on me and my family. In October, after making my payment, I was called and asked to stop using Zelle, and go back to depositing the funds in to their Bank of America account or mail Certified Funds via the FedEx label they would send me, due to having to move in to my mom’s house in a different town, I was unable to make the deposits into their Bank of America account. On October 21, 2020, I was told they were in the process of finalizing my loan modification and therefore requested more documents, in which I complied, the same day. In November, they notified me that I was authorized to send a personal check via the FedEx label that they emailed me. On November 24, 2020, via phone call, I was notified that it should only take two more weeks. Since then, I have called every Tuesday to inquire about my modification loan. I questioned why it is taking so long and they indicated because of Covid. On January 5, Alex notified me that the file was in underwriting, which means we should have a final decision in 2 weeks, that underwriting took 30-45 days. That the investors told her 2 weeks from Jan 5. That there was no possibility of it being denied. On Friday, January 22, 2021, I escalated my concerns and asked to speak to a manager/someone in charge that has more information about my loan. Early on that day, I spoke to Michael and he indicated that he needed more documents, in which I complied that same day. Later on, in the evening, we spoke on the phone, and he said my loan modification was accepted and was sent to the underwriter on December 31, 2020. During many discussions, he told me that the investor on my loan is a little screwy and it is not their (Home Matters USA) fault. I expressed to him again the toll it was taking on my mental health and he asked me to write a hard ship letter and submit that day, in which I complied. On January 24, 2021, I texted Michael and asked if I could get the contact information for the investor. He said we would talk more tomorrow. On January 25, 2021, Michael called me to discuss my concerns and answer questions that I had concerning the process and why it was taking so long. He said it was not their fault, but due to Covid, it is taking a little longer. He said that I would be very satisfied with the modification loan once it is approved, and that I shouldn’t give up. I was under the impression from my proposed settlement terms, that all they were requesting was for my interest rate to be reduced. I asked specifically what was the request, he stated that they are asking for all the missed payments be forgiven, lower interest rate and a 50% percent of the principal balance be forgiven…. At this time is when I realized that I was, now, 13 months behind in my monthly payments, instead of the 2 months at the beginning. I thought the money I was paying each month was going toward my loan. Michael said that the monthly payment I was making to them was for services they were providing to me. So now, I am over $20,000 behind in my mortgage payments. I requested for an itemized statement indicating what the money was used for each month, to which I have not received. I asked about selling my property after and he said I could sell my property the day after it closes with no penalties and I would not have to pay back anything that was forgiven in this modification. So now, being overdue over $20,000 to my lender, I reached out to get some advice from others. They suggested, that I request from Michael the date when my loan was sent to underwriter and where I am on the list. On January 26, 2021, Michael called me to discuss the process once again and to see what is taking so long. He said that the modification was being reviewed with the lender and there was nothing he could do. He said that the loan documents were not sent to underwriter that they were just being reviewed. He kept telling me that this is going to work out and not to worry, he promised me that at the end, things would be good and I would have tons of thousands of dollars saved. He said he contacted the investor, again hasn’t given me the information that I had asked him for, and they said to call back in 5 days that they may have an update, and there was nothing else he could do. He said I could call the investor, but that would jeopardize my modification loan being approved. I asked to speak to his manager, in which he would not tell me his name or give me his contact information. All he said was that I had a conditional approval and to just wait. He sent me a video text of a document that showed a savings for a total partial claim of $53,394.40 forgiven of a client’s final docs. He is telling me to just hang in there, that this will happen for me too. At this point in time, I am considering just trying to sell the property to relieve much stress and to move on with my life. I talked with a realtor and escrow officer who asked me to check into some things. They looked up Home Matters USA and stated that they have some negative comments on the way they conduct business, so I contacted my mortgage company to inquire if I was able to sell my property. I had to request a payoff statement and that would take a few days. I contacted Michael via text message and asked if he had contacted his supervisor to call me. His response was, “I have escalated your file to my supervisor per your request. I am no longer able to dialogue with you in regards to your file. The senior supervisor will be in touch with you in 24-48 hours. Thank you.” I asked for a name and number and he forwarded me a 1-800 number to call. I tried sending him another text, but it was unable to be delivered. I tried calling and now he has blocked my number and it goes straight to voice mail. I have paid them $18,238.59, and have received nothing in return besides me being mentally stressed, being past due on my mortgage of 13 months, a possible foreclosure on my home, and a complete loss of hope that this will be concluded. Due to negative reporting, and this “modification,” I am now unable to purchase a new home for at least one year from when I sell this property and possibly if I sell it, won’t make enough in the sale to pay everything, past due mortgage principal, interest, escrow, taxes, etc. I have requested for a preliminary report to be pulled on my property to see if there is any additional liens or statements I am unaware of.

Then stated that it isn’t illegal anymore to pay “up front” with the new loan reconstruct services that started in March 2020. I could even tell the girls name was fake. There also not listed on the better business bureau

I was contacted by Atlantic pacific services in January 2020 offering to lower my interest rate. They ask for upfront fees. I gave them necessary paperwork. By March, they gave me the run around that they are working on the loan. By May, still no results. It is now October and still nothing. I have asked for my money and they refuse to pay.

Complete scam promising to provide clients a mortgage loan modification! Ask for money upfront & advise clients to not pay their mortgage otherwise they will not be approved for a modification contingent on hardship. They were most recently working under a different company name “ Atlantic Pacific Services” (APS). If you ask why they are not ScamPulse.com accredited they will share a fake ABC article stating ScamPulse.com gives good rating based on pay for play. Sound familiar to anyone? Research Michael Grinnell there are existing lawsuits from the States of Ohio, Oregon & Washington. Please beware! There is a reason they only accept Zelle & cashiers check as payment!!

They are scammers run run fast
