Graphex Technologies Ltd Reports & Reviews (2)

- Plano, TX, USA

The company emailed me from several different email addresses, including comcast.net. They gave two dates that telephone interviews would be held. There were grammatical errors in the email, but I responded that I was interested in learning more about the position. I replied I would be available for a telephone interview on a certain day between certain hours.

I then received an almost duplicate email from the same company, different sender posted the job and asking if I was interested. This was the 2nd red flag. I responded telling them I had already replied with a date and time I was available.

Then they sent a text setting up the date and an inappropriate time for the phone call. Was leary at this point, but agreed to the time and date of phone interview. The "hiring manager" called within the time slot, but said "I just have couple of questions for you." "Greatest strength and greatest weakness." which I answered. Then he said would get back with me if they wanted to move further.

The next day I received a text that said "Congratulations" and check your email for offer letter. No inperson interview. No details on where the job would be, etc." Also typos and grammatical issues in text.

I opened the email, more typos and grammatical issues, and it said the following:

On behalf of Graphex Technologies Limited, it is my pleasure to offer you the position of OFFICE MANAGER Position (Full time/Permanent). Please note that this letter is to be considered a binding contract and employment at will. It serves as an outline of what the Company is presently offering you as an Graphex Technologies employee. Statistics show that a resume and interview do not guarantee a successful employee, especially in the technology field and world.

I wrote back with my concerns about their website not having any detail on it, no company history etc. as follows:

In researching Graphex Technologies Limited, I was able to pull up your website, but it doesn’t have anything about your company other than the services your company provides. Where can I find more detail on the owner(s), established date, history of company, company leadership team, whether or not it is incorporated, where the home office is actually located, if it is part of the better business bureau system, or the Canadian government’s business listings site, etc. Other than the website, I am having trouble finding anything at all for the company.

More than likely, I am not inputting the proper name(s) of the company. Any help you can provide will be appreciated! I want to know all about Graphex Technologies!

To date, Graphex Technologies has not responded to my phone calls or replied to my email request for more info on the company. I assume my queries on their company were too detailed for them to continue with the scam.

When I pulled up the website today, it had been updated with a few more details. Apparently, my questions about their website helped them fill in some missing data that might legitimize their site.

I did write to the ScamPulse.com Serving Southern Alberta & East Kootenay, and have received a response stating that they do not have a business profile on this company, but could tell me the website was establised 21 days ago (approx. Jan . 10th, 2020 time frame.)

I initially received an email stating that they received my information from their strategic account manager. Email looked very professional with a link to the company website, which looked legitimate. In the email they wanted me to confirm that the HR Manager could call me the next day at 10am to have a brief interview. I confirmed and the next day the HR Manager called me and asked me 3 questions. After that, I received a text and an email stating they needed 2 professional references. I sent that information late that afternoon, the next afternoon, I received a text and email stating a job offer to me with salary and benefits information. I let my references know that I got the job and they both let me know that they were never contacted. I thought about everything that happened and I noticed they told me they were opening a satellite office in Tyler, TX and that the offices would open on 2/17/2020. I would be sent a check and laptop. The check would be for me to use to purchase the office equipment and furnishings in advance of the opening on 2/17. I was never given the address of the new office in Tyler. Two emails and not one mention of the address or where the new office would be located. I started doing some checking on my own and found out that the company does not exist, I google mapped the address and it is an empty storefront building with a Barber Shop next to it. There is a for Lease sign on the glass door. Also, the person who contacted me doesn't seem to exist either and the phone number he called me from is not a business. I am very thankful that I did not give any personal information to them. I went with my gut feeling about this and it proved to be correct. Please, if you are offered a job and it just sounds too good to be true, please check it out. I called the Tyler Chamber of Commerce as well and they were not aware of any new technology companies opening in the Tyler area. Most likely this was some kind of money laundering scam. I'm glad I didn't get in too deep. Please always check on companies.
