- Houston, TX, USA

A young man (I believe he said his name was Marcus) came to my door claiming to be an ex-convict, selling magazines to be distributed to local non profits (of the buyers choice). He claimed to be selling magazines to earn credits to have his record expunged.

He shared a whole life story...He was adopted but his adoptive parents never told him, his birth mom lived 10 minutes down the street...he fled his adoptive home, and lived in group homes before being taken in by a gang member who gave him nice things, but had him jumped when he refused to commit crimes for them, he turned to ecstasy, was arrested and in jail for 4 months, he has a daughter, he is only 21...and this is one of the two jobs his P.O. offer him.

He had a black pad folio and multiple laminated sheets with descriptions of the 'credit' system, his person and the different magazine packages for purchase. Prices ranged from $240-$640. He said payments could be made via cash, check, or mobile payment. The mobile payment option via zelle appeared to go to some lady's name with multiple phone numbers listed. When I questioned the veracity of the organization he insisted I could call his boss at a phone number he would provide who would vet his story. When I googled the name of the business he provided (Go 4 More Sales LLC) the first page was a ScamPulse.com page. The man confidentially quoted the "A+" rating. Still confused by the value prop I asked for the organization website which he provided as Go4more.fun. The website was only had a logo email address and business name at the bottom of the page. At this point I realized it was a scam either mascarading as a real business out of Maryland, or a full scam under a registered business. I told the man it did not look legitimate and that I could not support him and he walked away quickly.

I did not take pictures of the paperwork, but I wish I had.

The young man was late-teens to early 20s, black male, maybe 5' 6-7" 150lbs, wearing a gray collared shirt, black shorts. Red, green and black Nike shoes (possible air Jordan).
