SCAM!

On November, I make a post on Facebook and ask for a place to stay at Ottawa for my co-op job. This woman sent me a message saying she has an apartment and I can rent it. It is $920/ month includes utilities at 234 Rideau Street.

I said I want to rent it then she asked me to contact the property. After contacting the property, they ask my information first to do a background check then we signed the lease. And I paid for one month deposit and 2 months rent. After that, they tell me they forgot to charge the furniture deposit,$800. I said I don’t want to pay it and want to get my refund back. The woman on Facebook immediately contact me said she told them to remove this deposit. We keep in touch until 1 week before I move in. I emailed them ask if I can mail my stuff first but no one reply me. I email them again and give them a call but still no one reply or pick up the phone.

On 12/30, I search on google again and found that there are some people reported that this is a scam. This property changed their name and keep scamming other people.

I know I probably won’t get my money back but I want everyone to know this. The mistakes I have make are that I didn’t see the place in person or do a face time. And they only provide email for contact, while there is a phone number on their website but never pick up the phone. Her Facebook profile only has 2 pictures.

I saw she keep posting on other rental group. JUST BE CAREFUL!

Same exact thing but in USA. They found me on Craigslist on an ad, told me they lived in Canada for work(dumb me I believed it), and then told me to contact estatepartnerssolution.com to apply. We did that and followed through all the way. I then couldn't help but get sick to my stomach about it so we looked them up and saw this. We immediately called our bank, credit card, and Social Security agents to report the fraudulent behaviors that may be coming in. We got everything blocked in time, and will now be much more vigilant on how we go about this.
Thank you to the others for reporting them and having our backs with out knowing us!

Unfortunately a scam! Do not send them any of your information! I saw a post on Kijiji for a rental apartment for 170-173 Kananksis Way. I messaged about it and they sent me to contact their management company estatepartnerssolution.com. They answered all my questions and wanted a copy of my ID for a background check. I got suspicious because they also said they couldn't do a virtual tour due to their visitor rule during COVID. So I called the hotel where the unit was located and they said that they do not provide any of these kind of rentals and that this company I was in contact with is fraudulent.

A rental property listed on kijiji was initial contact. I was looking at their rental property and contacted them through the kijiji chat. They answered my initial questions regarding the property then said they had a rental company that took care of the lease and rental property to which I was directed too. I emailed the rental company in regards to the property in which I asked more questions and they answered. I emailed that I was interested in renting the property and their email response was they needed to do a background check and then they would send me the lease agreement. So unfortunately I sent them a picture of the front of mine and my husband’s drivers license. They then emailed the lease agreement after they said they had completed the background check. After reading the contract and contacting the front desk of the hotel/condo in which the unit was located I had more questions and made a request to FaceTime for a live tour of the unit before signing the lease and sending any money. This is when they did not return my email. So the gig was up!!
