Empower Recruiter Reports & Reviews (4)

- Littleton, MA, USA

I am classified as a minority in my field and chronically unemployed due to Covid. I recieved an email on 4/6/2021 from a recruiter, [email protected], requesting a resume in a format I never heard of before, "ATS - Compatible", with an offer to submit to their client. When I searched to learn about the resume format, it is for an applicatant tracking system inside a staffing firm. I decided to reach out to the company to learn more. Perhaps there was an error in the email? I went to the website and found that there was no phone number available for the company. I Googled the address to find that it is a Medical Complex with doctors offices.

I decided to look for them on the ScamPulse.com to find no information and I was redirected to the ScamPulse.com page for researching scams. https://www.bbb.org/new-york-city/scam-job-offers/ I looked the URL up using https://lookup.icann.org/ to find that the domain not found. I replied to the email requesting assistance with the resume process. I recieved a reply on 4/7/2021 from [email protected], "Hello, The role is aligned with your experience. Unfortunately, your resume is not as per ATS standard and scores less than 50 on our Candidate Management System (CMS) as a result, you will be automatically excluded from the shortlisted candidates. In order to move forward, I need your ATS-compatible resume ASAP for the initial process. You may contact http://resumes-master.com/ for ATS Compatible Resume.

For reasons of confidentiality and non-disclosure, I am not able to share any detail of the position or company with you at this time, unfortunately. I will check my schedule and let you know a few time slots for a brief phone call after the initial process. Regards, Gloria Carter Senior Hiring Manager" At this point, I assumed this was a scam because of no phone, no verifiable address, no record in BBB, no trackable website and all other contract firms take either pdf or word resumes and do not blindly submit you to a client without a screening. This looks like an attempt to fraud money from people who are desperate and unfamiliar with standard hiring practices.

I won't say that I have been scam the same email received from the empowerecruiter last month and ask for an ATS-compatible resume. Unfortunately, mine was not but "Gloria" help me a lot to make my resume as per theATS requirements without charging anything. One week before my interview was conducted and on coming Monday is my joining.

How I wish these cads get themselves a serious job and stop scamming desperate job hunters. It's a b***dy shame. I just received an email from someone calling herself Gloria Carter from Empower Recruiters (address in California). I checked out their website - and it's everything a scam website looks like: hastily put together, badly formatted, tons of small giveaways (don't want to help these creeps by educating them on how to scam better, so will not divulge their slip-ups), and generally looking like one giant red flag. I have no intention of sending them my resume and would advise readers to give them a wide birth as well. Good luck in dealing with decent recruiters/headhunters!

An individual identifying themselves as a recruiter with a firm called Empower Recruiter (no s on recruiter to distinguish themselves from another recruitment firm named Empower Recruiters) contacts a job-seeker, advising that they were referred to you by an outside talent sourcing firm. They advise you that they have a position for which you are qualified and that as a retained recruitment firm, they are paid by their client. They ask for your resume. Then, once you send your resume, they advise you that your resume is not formatted properly for the Applicant Tracking System and that you will need to click on the URL for a resume formatting service to move forward. This scam has been played many, many times before. If you pay for the resume formatting service -- anywhere from $100 to $200 -- the scammer will tell you that things are looking promising before advising you that the client's acquisition fell through and there are no longer any positions available.
