A woman called me to tell me she was my daughters ACT advisor. Because the ACT was going to be given online this year because of COVID 19, they were sending all the students signed up to take the test a CD or USB supplemental tutorial to help them to take the test in this online format. They would send me the material to download, take a deposit of $215, we would return the CDs and then they would reimburse me the money. I truly believed this woman. It wasn't until they sent me the CD rather than the USB that I called them to inform them of the mistake, that I suspected that they were a private business selling tutoring supplements, rather than the actual collegeboard. It's a good scam - BEWARE.

"Educational Testing" offers fraudulent testing services to students preparing for standardized tests for college. They sent my daughter a box of testing materials that she never requested, and charged it through my credit card. I don't know how they would have access to my card and yet after I called them and brought to their attention that they sent materials we never requested nor authorized to pay for, they proceeded to send us more materials. This company has been difficult to dispute and don't even have representatives that sound the slightest bit professional. We even shipped back the books and CD's they sent, only for it to be returned to us because their PO Box didn't even exist. The company or business was reported "unknown". They have two different phone numbers and even made the transaction under a company that didn't even have the same name as the name of their "business" I don't want them to scan any other students or their parents to be scammed as preparing for and applying to college are both stressful, and no one deserves to lose hundreds of dollars in the process. I hope that my dispute with them could at least be responded to and get settled, because I lost a good amount of money to this company. If anyone gets sent random testing material, be sure to check your bank account for transactions because this company is fraudulent. They will steal your money and even claim that your child ordered testing materials without you knowing (this is what they said to me although my child has no access to a credit card).

Merchant contacted me via phone. Knew my sons name and asked if they could send College level material. Merchant stated there was a 30 day money back guarantee if I did not need materials. I thought my son ordered these since he is a senior. (I also had just gotten out of the hospital from MAJOR heart surgery and was recovering at home.) Merchant NEVER disclosed any"subscriptions' or any other prices other than the one they told me about, 216.32. After speaking with my son, he never ordered this product, and I said we'd send it back. I was late in sending it back ( due to recovery) BUT called the merchant to see if they would take it back, they stated yes, but I have nothing in writing. (DVD's NEVER OPENED) I followed the directions of which they told me to do. I have NO receipts, NO additional info on anything in writing about SUBSCRIPTIONS, or continued use of this "service." I have filed a dispute with my credit card, they denied it because I have NO WRITTEN PAPERWORK from this company. After sending the items back, even though late that they AGREED too, they refused my package stating it was after the 30 day time frame. EVEN though they agreed to this return. They held that package for almost a month then sent it back to me. I called again they stated they would not accept it as it was after the time. I explained they they told me verbally they would. They refused to give me my money back. I called credit card company and asked they to dispute the charge, they found in favor of the merchant because I HAVE NOTHING in writing from the merchant. (I wonder why????) A few months pass by I have ANOTHER charge from them, (69.95) I DID NOT AUTHORIZE this charge. Again they stated I NEVER CANCELED this "subscription." After calling them 2 or 3 times I assumed it would be cancelled if I was to SEND the items back. AGAIN, I filed a dispute with credit card company and they found in favor of the merchant again!! The credit card company stated it is he merchants policy and we have to adhere to that. AGAIN, I have NOTHING in writing from the merchant regarding terms and conditions. How can a merchant get away with stuff like this to consumers????? I am out 287.00 to this FRAUD company SCAM!!!!! I am so disappointed in my credit card company for not sticking by my side to aid in my defense. And the company is in CA, while I am in FL, and the time difference makes it hard for me to contact them....

Applied for SAT college prep testing materials online. Company contacts me immediately and says if you pay upfront for the materials and return it back to their company within 30 days of receiving it, I will get the full refund. I returned it 3 weeks after they sent it out to me. I called their office and spoke with “DON” at customer service on 3 different occasions and he confirmed with me that the package was received within the 30 day period. “DON” also said my refund will be in my bank within 7 days. Today, I receive the materials in the mail with their address blacked out and the word “REFUSE” on it. “DON” says that they mailed the materials on a two day priority back to me.

The company sent the materials back to me and “DON” says to me today per their “Receiving Department” materials were not received within the 30 day period. I asked to speak with their receiving department and “DON” says that “RON” in their receiving department will call me back.

My husband and I received a phone call from Educational Testing Center that our daughter had requested SAT study DVD's from their company. Because they knew her name we thought it was legitimate so we ordered the DVD ($216.32) with the understanding that if we returned them within 30 days we would receive a complete refund. We returned the DVD's on time and after two months of no credit I called to inquire on the status. I was told I would be refunded by the end of the following week. We were on vacation that next week and when we returned home the DVD's had been mailed back to us. I called again and they said they were received past the 30 days. I told them they were scamming people and wrote it off as a lesson learned until I noticed a charge from University Preparation on my May credit card statement in the amount of $69.95. My first thought was that it was for my daughters SAT test but I was sure I had seen that on my April credit card statement. After investigating I realized I paid for my daughters SAT test on my debit card which is through College Board and University Preparation had made unauthorized charges on my credit card in April for $69.95 and there is another pending charge on my June statement for $69.95 all which are being disputed at this time. When I called the number on my credit card I recognized the voice as being the same man I spoke to from Educational Testing which confirmed they are one in the same.

My husband was contacted at work by Ms. Gallant stating that my Son had signed up at school to receive free SAT preparation materials. She explained that as long as my Son returned the materials within 30 days we would not be charged for them but that she needed to have his credit card on file to secure the shipment. Unfortunately, my Husband complied and that very same day $216.32 was charged to our card. I called the next day (Spoke with Don) who said my husband must have misunderstood the prior conversation and that the money would be charged up front and then refunded 'if' we return the materials within 30 days. This prompted me to do some research on this company and I was amazed at how many people have encountered this exact same issue. Apparently, this company has changed their name a few times (Former name(s) SAT/ACT College Level Examination and College Advancement Testing). I received a copy of CDs in the mail which I didn't even open. I could tell they were outdated and based on the stories I found on the internet, I knew what to expect. I immediately returned the items unopened and waiting for the tracking number to show they were successfully delivered. They were delivered on March 30th at 3:56 PM. I had called earlier that day (Spoke with Don again) who said that he hadn't received the package yet and that once he did, he would refund my money. I decided to give it a week or two to see if I received a check or if the money was placed back on my card. Today (April 12th) I called again because of course, I have not received my money back. This time when I called I asked for Don and was asked who was calling, I gave my name and the person the answered started to assist me by saying yes, they had received the package and that they hadn't refunded my money yet because first, "Don" wanted to make sure I understood this was a great opportunity for my Son and that "Don" wanted to make sure that I understood he would be willing to discount the CDs by 100.00 if I agree... I could tell he was reading from a script. I stated that I am declining this offer (again) and I would like my money refunded immediately. Then the gentleman said he would send me a check right away for 201.37 (minus 14.95 for shipping). At this point, I wasn't going to argue over the shipping fees even though I had to PAY 8.45 to mail the items back. So, I asked him his name and he said, "Don". I said, the same Don I have been speaking to? He said yes, he speaks to many people and doesn't have voice recognition capabilities. So, when he was basically referring to himself in the 3rd person during this entire conversation until the very end. Strange? Yes, but I guess I shouldn't be surprised. In summary, I am now waiting for my refund (via paper check) of 201.37 which I doubt I will see. I will keep pursuing this though - thankfully I have an Attorney in the family! Even if I do get my money back, I feel it necessary to report this company to make others aware. I am also informing my Son's school about this.
