The scammer called and said he was from Direct TV and said they were doing new software updates and needed payment to upgrade our system. They wanted $225.00 up front on a credit card. I gave them the info and then felt uneasy about it and called my credit card holder and cancelled the transaction and my card.

I went online to AT&T/Direct tv to inquire about my contract expiration date. I also inquired about lowering my monthly bill, I chatted with Sarah. She said that she would do what she could online, she then expressed that everything else would need to be done via phone and that she would have her manager call me. She also states that she has notated the account and that there was no need to repeat all we discussed, about 10 minutes later I received a call from 912-420-2149 stating that he was Robert from AT&T /Directv stating that he had a promotion and my bill would be cut by 50%, in addition, I would receive HBO, Epix, and Cinemax for 24 months if I paid for 5 months in advance. As we spoke he instructed to me go to different channels via my remote and I witnessed availability on HBO, Epix and Epix HD . this suggest that DirectV has given them the authority to access my account and make changes. He then proceeded to say that they had partnered with EBAY in order to help them boost their business, and gave me a list of stores to go purchase gift cards totaling $400.He provided a phone number to the business office for me to call 888-718-0206 with the information from the gift card. After I did that, shortly I received a text from 512-368-8574 stating that "we regret to inform you that due to the unexpected electromagnetic glitches the binary systems have malfunctioned with your eBay payment of amount $400. Kindly call the billing dept at 8887180206to resolve the problem. when I called he stated that the system was fixed at this time but the cards were blocked and to go purchase another $400 gift card and Directv would refund my money on Wednesday. otherwise "sorry for your loss" . I contacted AT&T via phone and discussed this with them, who transferred me to the Fraud dept, that should return the call within 2buisness days. I also contacted eBay to see if the cards could be disputed or traced and he states that it is a scam and gave me other steps to take. This being one of them. I filed a complaint with the FCC

We were contacted via phone. The individual stated he was with Direct TV and needed to check or receiver to see if it was upgraded because Direct TV will be repositioning their satellite. If our equipment is not updated we would lose service, The upgrade would normal be $400.00 but because we were long time customers it would be $279.00. The individual had my DOB and street address. He wanted the money upfront and stated the money would be refunded after 6 months. He stated he can make the adjustment virtually because they are not sending at technicians due to COVID-19. I asked to speak with his supervisor because I should not be forced to pay for any upgrades if they company makes a decision to move its satellite. That never happened and he said all Direct Customers would have pay to be upgraded. I figured out it was as scam because our service was upgraded in December. I contacted Direct TV and they stated this information was not valid and supposedly documented my account to reflect this scam. I did not provide the scammer with any financial info. I just want alert others because he was very persistent.

The phone number to 301 250-9642 is an active account through DirecTV ... The number 650-771-6764 is a forwarding after hours#... I really got sick of my phone being hijacked there's many levels to the story the one on reporting is the final chapter and the story and hopefully something to be done about it. With that being said hyper no joke years of this going on I finally called the 650-771-6764 number back it seems the person didn't set up the voicemail password so I did.

And I'm glad I did so I've been set up the voicemail password and procedure to check the messages the messages were all in Spanish and many of them mention the number 301-250-9624.

That's how I got wind of the number I'm reporting to you when I contacted the 301-250-9624 number it rang for a very long time and then it was sent to a voicemail box system where again I figured out the password, I don't understand well Spanish but there's hundreds messages in that voice mailbox with financial information addresses birthday credit card numbers because the little bit of Spanish that I do understand for stating so. So I decided to call the number myself and challenge the fact that they were not authorized dealers of DirecTV the response to me was f you, and hung up the phone.... So the number (650-771-6764)associated with the 3012059642 number that is set up with the DirecTV account in question is located in redwood City California... And to be quite honest it's more than one type of crime that feeling committed this is been going on with me for instant for 2 years of hijacking accounts over taking phones etc etc I'm sure there's money laundering involved to to the fact that the number associated with the DirecTV account has no association with the forwarding number that I've mentioned before now I need this to be investigated because I need to make a police report and get the ball rolling

On Oct. 15, 2019, I received a phone call from whom I thought was DirecTV, offering me a special promotion. I was told that I could pay a one time fee of $99.99 for 3 years coverage, for my DirecTV protection plan, instead of paying $8.99 per month, thus saving me over $200.00. I asked a lot of questions, and they knew all the "right" answers. I agreed...

I called ATT/DirecTV today to find out why they were still charging me the $8.99 a month for the protection plan. They had no record of this transaction or payment, and they do not offer any such promotion. On my bank statement, Protection Plan Center received my $99.99 payment! They scammed me!
