Digital Dentistry Institute Reports & Reviews (1)

- Berkeley, CA, USA

This was a pretty in-depth scam. I was contacted via email from [email protected] - stating that a company named Woods Bagot is interested in hiring me for a Graphic Design job, which I am currently searching for. They requested an online interview via Google Hangout, and that I set up a time by emailing Christiana Kyrillou at [email protected]. I was a little concerned about the gmail part of the email address, but looked on LinkedIn and Glassdoor, saw they were hiring, and even on the Woods Bagot website and found both of the names and photos of the people mentioned above working at Woods Bagot. I set up an interview time, and had a very long interview with "Christiana" via Google Hangout, which had many questions that were very specific to Graphic Design, so it felt very real. At the end of the 2 hour interview I was told I was hired and that this is a remote position, with opportunities to work out of a local office periodically. Seemed real enough... then I was told I would be sent a check to pay for office supplies to set up my home office, such as a MacBook, printer, etc. I told them I already had computer with software, etc. but they wanted me to use this new equipment. I felt that was strange, then I was instructed to immediately print and sign a form submitted by [email protected] -which was something to do with the Law and what not. They offered me $35 an hour, and said I would start as soon as I received the equipment, which would be delivered by a "vendor" and I would pay with the check they were to send me. There was an urgency to get me to sign the form by the "Christiana" person, and she asked for my address, phone, email etc... I told them I needed time to consider the position, and the next day via Google Hangout I told them I was going to pass on the position. They never responded to this, and then a Priority Mail envelope came to my address and inside was a check for $6,978.49 made out to me, from a company titled Digital Dentistry Institute, with "Equipment" typed in the memo. The address on the check was from Florida, but the return address on the USPS label was from the 297 Convair Ave Ste 2 in Chico, CA. I looked up the USPS tracking and the package originated in New Jersey. All fake, all a scam..
