Dermaliq Therapuetics Reports & Reviews (1)

- Owings Mills, MD, USA

I want to start this report by stating the company name used in this scam is a legitimate company. The scammer does not work for the company. I was initially contacted by Jaron Widom stating I received the text regarding a remote customer service position with Dermaliq Therapeutics. I was informed of the $27 per our pay rate and instructed to download the signal app too speak with the hiring recruiter Owen Shaer at 845-419-1225. Owen Shaer asked interview questions that seemed legitimate. After answering all of the interview questions I was placed on a brief hold. Owen stated I was perfect for the position and the company would love to hire me. I was given the name of a trainer and informed we would connect via Skype for the next steps. The trainer was Kyle Callahan. Mr. Callahan stated I would receive onboarding materials such as an offer letter and other documents to sign via email. I provided Mr. Callahan with my email address and immediately noticed the email was from an outlook email account and not a company account. I reviewed the documents, confirmed the logo and company name with the information on the website and didn’t see any issues. I completed the documents and sent them back to Mr. Callahan. The documents asked for my name, address, current place of employment, last four of social security number, driver’s license number and date of birth. Mr. Callahan confirmed receipt of the documents and requested a picture of the front and back of my license. He then began discussing my training schedule. I was to log on to Skype daily at 9am. This scam happened over the course of a week or more. I logged in daily to “check-in” and was told I would receive equipment for training. In the meantime the company would like to run a background check to confirm my identity. This is where things start to seem really suspicious. I was asked for my social security number to run the background check. I refused to provide this information. Mr. Callahan stated the information was required. I refused again. Mr. Callahan told me he understood my concern and would notify HR that I was uncomfortable providing my social security number. I then received a call from an unknown number. The caller left a voicemail stating Mr. Callahan told them my concerns and they were calling to get the social security number. I did not return the call. I told Kyle if I needed to provide my SSN to move forward I am no longer interested in the position. I was told I could move forward without the SSN now but it would be required later. Kyle then told me due to the need for equipment I would receive a check in the mail to buy equipment. I agreed because as a business owner and consumer I can easily spot a fake check. The check was mailed via fedex and I immediately knew this job offer was a scam. The check was from an insurance group and drawn on a Chase bank account. I took the check to Chase and they confirmed the check was fake. I contacted Kyle Callahan stating the check was confiscated for fraud and his reply was “Okay” and asked if I “deleted the chat.” Mr. Callahan was not surprised at all nor did he ask other questions about the check or why it was deemed fraudulent.. I was asked to send a picture of the check which I did not do. After confirming the check was fraudulent, I reached out to an owner of the company on LinkedIn. The owner confirmed they were not hiring, did not contact me about a job opening, and would only send emails from their company domain name. They would never send an email from an outlook email address. She was very helpful in helping me with this situation,. Please stay safe while job hunting and verify company information as much as possible!
