Daimiko Corporation Reports & Reviews (1)

I received an offer too good to be true from this company called Daimiko (website is daimiko.com) $5K/mo for 5-7 hours per week of work. The offer was for a "Regional Liaison Director/Account Receivable," and they asked me to help them establish a presence in the U.S. They found me and we had a short discussion via email. At one point, I was asked to "officially" apply online. The email address was from [email protected]. "Kaito" then called me a few times and left a voicemail. We finally spoke, and he had a heavy accent so it was difficult to understand him, but he assured me that I wouldn't be doing much in the first month or so. He just needed a contact in the U.S. while they establish themselves.

The offer letter seems legit. It's got what appears to be a Japanese watermark, appears to be written by a lawyer. But it's missing key items you'd expect to see in an employment contract. A few things stick out. First, they go out of their way to let me know that they won't be asking me for money for anything; they'd supply all funds. But they said they'd pay me via wire transfer. Why? Because they want to steal my identity.

Their website is quite comprehensive. It appears legitimate and it took some time to do it, but upon further reading, there are a few minor spelling errors. And much of the text is vague and "techy." Since they claim to be from Japan, this might be forgiven. However, I looked them up on whois.com, and a found a few concerning things. First, for a company apparently founded in 1922 and incorporated in 1971, they didn't register their domain name until 12.12.2019. In addition, the contact person for the domain registration is someone named "Dai Miko" from Houston, TX, and the listen phone number is an Iowa prefix. Also, the registered email for the domain registration is a protonmail.com account, known to be highly secure and untraceable.

Other flags:

Their physical address doesn't seem to appear anywhere in Google Maps:

Daimiko Industrial Plaza

10-18 Daimiko House, Ueki, Kita

Kumamoto, 861-0198

Japan

And the phone number - the only one that appears on the offer letter - is the same as the number used to call me:

Phone +81 50 3155 5648

The Director of Human Resources "Daichi Charles," the guy who signed the letter can't be found online anywhere. And their president, Reijiro Lee, also can't be found.

They say they are listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, but after performing an entity search on the exchange, they don't exist there.

They have an Instagram account with only 18 followers and a Twitch account (?) that hasn't been used.

Finally, in its "blog," it lists "Dacozu Holdings Co." Googling this leads to a page where another scammer has posted the exact job description and word-for-word congratulatory letter than I received (https://stopscamfraud.com/viewtopic.php?t=416).
