I got contacted via txt message about a job position as Administrator for BDM Group. From txt message we proceeded the conversation via google hangouts. He interviewed me via messages and was “given” the job. I received details that they would send me a check to purchase my “mini office” supplies and that it would have the company logo on it. It didn’t start to make sense to me when I asked about meeting my supervisor in person. He said someone would come to a center location near me for training and orientation. Especially when he asked me for my personal info such as name address DATE OF BIRTH etc. I immediately screen shot the message and consulted with my sister. Sure enough she shared this website with me and similar stories just like mine. I have not given him that info but now I am afraid of how he even got my phone number! I have only used Indeed.com for job searches. I hope this is useful for others in a position as me!

I was contacted about a position by Mr. Peter Doyle that I applied for on Indeed and he told me that he liked my resume and that I had been shortlisted for the positon. He confirmed who he was talking with and stated he wanted to send me over to an interview with Darren Chorey who was part of the human resource team. He told me the interview would be done over the app Google Hangout and to download it and let Mr. Chorey know when I was online and the interview would start. He asked for my preferred email address and send me a link to BMD group and a job description. When I asked when he wanted me to start he ignored my question and went directly into interview questions that he typed and sent to me. I answered a few vague ones like, " how do you work in groups" and " tell me about your last job" but I stopped the conversation when he asked question like "who do you bank with" and "describe yourself and your location" I told Mr. Chorey that I no longer wanted to continue on with the interview and he never responded.

I was texted an offer to apply for a part time position for the BMD Group as an estimator. I was told to go to skype to speak with Mr. Tony Hennessy 51 years, the interview manager of BMD Group with BA from the UK. He asked multiple questions about my credentials of which I responded normally. He then went to ask the team if they should hire me and they said yes so he said he was sending me a check for $4,650.00 to deposit and use as funds for purchasing a laptop and installing software and a bonus for my efforts. I deposited the check and it bounced of course. But before it could bounce he asked me for $950 until the check cleared. I said no so he asked for $200. I said no again and that was all. I'm stuck with the bank fees but I am reporting them to my bank and here.

Also, the check was from Richard Freeman 7984 Estes CT. Littleton, CO 80128 Bellco.org

Someone just sent me a series of texts saying they were from BMD Group, and they were interested in in texting (not speaking) about an open a position with BMD Group. BMD Group is a legitimate company in Australia and does not have offices in the U.S.

Their texts were very vague--first asking me if I was the right person they were trying to contact. Each time I had to ask them for more information b/c they were being very cryptic--I don't even know the title of the position.

In addition, they did not want to speak about the position--they only wanted to text, saying, "This medium of interview is chosen to enable good, better and clear conversation. We have issues of misunderstanding terms on videos and calls interview. We believe candidates have to understand better and clear..Understood?" This doesn't even make sense--of course it is best to speak about a position.

No job does this. A job will want to speak with you, and they will be clear up front it is re: a job and give details. (In addition, the grammar is incorrect.)

I called the number--it is a Google number. I have notified the company, and will notify the FTC, as well.
