Cat Scam

I went online looking for a beautiful kitten, preferably a Siberian kitten, and I found one named Tulah. He was gorgeous, and I immediately felt he would be perfect. The next morning I contacted Benitha through their website. They asked a few questions and then said they were satisfied he was going to a good home. They wanted $650 sent via Zelle, $600 for the kitten and $150 for transporting the kitten to my home. It was at this point, right after I sent the funds, that I had a funny feeling in the pit of my stomach. Something wasn't right, and I went on line looking for scams, and I found this website. By then I had already sent the funds and knew I would not be getting it back. So I called the phone number that was given to me 405-385-9051. The man who answered had a thick, African accent, and it was difficult to make out what he was saying. However, I was able to decipher that he used a pet transport company called "State Pet Transport". I searched online for them but could not find them. I played along with this cat scam game, and on the morning that Tulah was to be flown to me, I received a call from him asking me if I had received his email. A copy of that email is attached. Of course he wanted more money. I told him he was not going to receive another dollar from me and that he could take his African scamming scheme and shove it up his [censored]! Needless to say, he hung up one me. I have since gone back to his website and he has a whole new batch of cute little kittens. Something that triggered me that this was a scam is that I have traveled with a cat many times on a plane. Only two pets are allowed in the cabin per plane, and he assured me that I could have it sent any day. Well, I planned weeks in advance to have my cat come with me in the cabin. Veterinarian work had to be completed, and of course, I was accompanying my cat. Anyone reading this, please call that number, or the number they give you, post your conversations here, and please do not send any money. These people are playing on the emotions of innocent victims all because they receive money from innocent people. Who would have thought that nasty people are scamming people over kittens! Benitha Siberian Kittens is a scam, do not use them. They should be arrested!

I first began my search for a legitimate Siberian kitten breeder since they are fairly hypoallergenic and would make a suitable house cat for my living situation. I researched a few breeders before finding Benitha Siberian Kittens Home. They have a decent website, were quick and consistent with their responses, and were willing to answer all my questions and send additional photos of the two cats I was interested in. I sat on the decision for a few days before pulling the trigger and eventually decided to adopt one of the kittens. The payment process was to consist of a single transfer of funds on venmo. The seller then claimed they could see the transfer to their account but could not access it. I refused send additional funds. This was soon cleared up and all seemed well again. Then the next morning I received word from the seller that the cat had been dropped off with the transport company to be flown to my state but there was an unforeseeable issue with the type of crate he brought the kitten in and the transport company would be using one of theirs instead. This would require an additional payment but to the transport company directly this time for usage of the crate which would then be refunded to me upon delivery of the kitten. The requested amount was over $1300. I said absolutely not. If the breeder had truly been doing this for several years why were they just now finding out about this? Why was this not discussed beforehand? And why was I responsible for their poor business practice. When I refused to pay the additional amount things rapidly digressed. The seller even tried to call me as the transport company as if I would not recognize it was the same guy. I called him out on it and he quickly ended the call. I demanded a refund to which he replied 'ok' and then has said and done nothing since regarding this matter. I did use the purchase protection feature on venmo when making sending the original agreed upon adoption fee and transportation costs totalling $650. Thankfully venmo has been responsive in my action to file a dispute and hopefully my money will be recovered. But there is no guarantee. And this guy is still out there saying people left and right. I'm sure of it.its absolutely deplorable and vile that someone would do this and it makes me feel violated on some level. I spent days talking details with this person and they were consistent and appeared forthcoming right up until that claim that the money was not transferable on venmo and then the request for additional funds. I hope someone finds this and questions every pet adoption possibility that crosses state lines. Do everything you can to see your soon-to-be kitten or puppy in person before forking over any money. And do not, I repeat DO NOT, trust Benitha Siberian Kittens Home nor the supposed transport company called State Pets Transport.

This just happened to me as well. I purchased my kitten 2 weeks ago and told him the date I wanted my kitten. That next day he took the kitten to the Transport Company and all of a sudden said I owed for a different crate. I told him I would not pay for that even if it was being refunded. I also mentioned that I did not ask for the kitten that day since I was going on a trip and said it would be a good bonding experience. I should’ve taken that as a sign… but me being naive and not knowing the adoption process I was upset and he proceeded that he would pay over half and I would pay the rest. I thought that was nice and said yes. Now the day is here and I owe for an insurance fee… over $1400 for it. Absolutely not. I was told there were no more fees so I called him. He said he would figure it out. Did not here back so I called him and shortly after his phone went out of service and now I have no way to contact him. Then the transport company calls and says I can make a payment plan even though it will be refunded… so why would I pay? I am so disgusted and blown away that someone would treat people like this and scam them. $1150 is now gone. I barely make any money and have no idea if I will get it back. It was all done through Zelle and my bank with the dispute was wonderful, but we will see in a month if I get my money back.
