Amazon fraud department Reports & Reviews (5)

My 80 year old mother received a call and they identified themselves as the Amazon Fraud Department. They said someone was attempting to purchase an iPhone in the amount of $785.00. They said the scammer attempting to order the iPhone was ordering from another state and using a different shipping address and it flagged the fraud department. The caller tried to rush her to give personal banking info to stop the purchase and then refund the money. She put me on the phone??. They repeated their story and actually said “we must hurry to prevent this scam”. When I looked at her Amazon orders, I told the caller I didn’t see any such purchase. She then told me to quickly log out of her Amazon account. That by having it open, it gave the scammers access and they could continue with more purchases. Of course I didn’t believe a word... and have started entertaining myself by asking them dumb questions to waste THEIR time ??. When I finally asked why their caller ID was from an individual named __ Anderson from Sneedville, TN ( I’ll keep that confidential to protect __ Anderson) they hung up.

I received a call from what appeared to be a local number, 337 298-4845, claiming to be with Amazon Fraud Department. A voicemail was left on my phone. The person calling claimed that a $939.99 charge had been placed on my credit card associated with my Amazon account and looked suspicious. I was instructed to call: 833 324-2154 to remedy the situation. I did not call, but, instead contacted Amazon Customer Service directly and was assured that the charge claim was false as was the number claiming to be from their Fraud Alert Department.

Continue to get this call three times today saying that I need to call them to stop the fraud committed on my Amazon account

Tried to say a new Amazon account was opened and a $900 phone had been ordered. They wanted me to be on land line in front of my computer so they could walk me through the steps on how to cancel the account.

Told them I would speak with Amazon directly and hung up. Amazon verified no such account or order happened.

The caller said that a charge for $790.00 for an iPhone had been charged to my account to be delivered to Dayton,Ohio. They said if the charge was legitimate I need do nothing. If I did not make the charge I should call 1-910-387-0865. When I called the number they said they had to get into my computer in order to cancel the order or my Amazon account would be frozen. I told them no and hung up.
