I was contacted by a "Jeff Cohen" from Admitopia claiming to offer me a job talking to prospective students and their parents over the phone about my college experience. I'd get paid $15/hour to start. He told me to submit a short 500 word college experience essay and a picture and I would start my position shortly after. I was told I'd be paid either by PayPal, personal check, or direct deposit. He even called me on my personal cell phone, and it didn't occur to me til after I ended the call that I didn't give him my number, and his number was blocked as well. After I submitted the essay, I never got a reply from him. I felt off about the company, did research and realized many others like me were also duped into thinking they'd be getting employment from this "company." I emailed him asking him not to put any of the information I gave him on his website, but he did so anyway. I contacted him again asking him to remove the content with no reply.

He is taking my personal content and information and posting it on his website without consent. This in turn is misleading for students who may believe they may actually be calling these alumni that are listed on the website.

I replied to the email that I didn't know if my experience would be relevant but it sounded interesting. I was asked to provide a phone number for an interview. I did so and was immediately called by Jeff Cohen. We talked for a bit, I asked about his business model. He sounded articulate and knowledgeable. He readily agreed to a $25 an hour payment. He asked me to send a photo and short description acknowledging I attended the university in question which I did. He sent an email asking for a 500 word (minimum) description of my experience and to send by midnight. It seemed odd to me and then i realized when he called the number was blocked. I googled the company and didn't like what I read so I emailed back (this all happened within an hour) and politely asked him not to post my info until I had a chance to do a little more due diligence. He never replied and the next day my photo and bio were posted on his site. I sent multiple emails over the course of the next few days requesting removal and a response and have heard nothing. I finally said I would be reporting him to the BBB and other relevant authorities because based on his inaction and lack of a reply it seems like what I read about his business was true and it's a scam to get free descriptions posted on his site. I want my photo and bio removed. Others have had similar experiences. He has disappeared and that makes me nervous.
